We have heard people saying that Islam prefer man over woman and man has more powers and rights in Islam than woman. Also, there are rules like man can show their body, face except the private parts to others while women must cover all their body and even hair.
We have all seen many more examples others than this and from a point of view we can say that Islam seems to prefer man over woman. And many haters use this message to distract people from loving Islam and becoming a Muslim.
So, let us start with the covering of body. In Islam, man only need to cover from their navel up to the knees for minimum covering. But, for women they must cover all their body parts except their wrist and feet. We can clearly see a difference in clothing rules for man and woman. And it seems that man has more freedom than woman. Well, the difference in clothing is due to the reason that woman has many sexual arousing parts and if women shows all her body parts, then there will be increase in rape, prostitution, etc. A woman’s face is the most attractive part of her body. Bt looking at a woman’s face, many bad feelings come to the mind.
If woman’s face and their other parts were covered, then none would know how they look or whether they are beautiful. And most importantly, it will reduce the crimes on woman.
See, most of the crimes on woman are due to the fact that woman show most of their body parts to man. A man who wasn’t thinking any bad things may become attractive or start thinking bad things by seeing the woman showing their body parts. This would not happen if the woman covered her body parts, for the man would not see her body parts and will not arouse his sexual desire or feeling.
This practice is not only in Islam, but all over the world, in every community and religion. In every one of them, man can wear a short from the naval upto around the knee while the woman has to cover almost all her body parts. And the reason why men can wear shorts is that they have less attractive body features than woman and more importantly, they mostly required it for hunting, working, fighting, etc.
And another common blame on Islam is that men have more powers and rights than woman. It is indeed true that men have more powers and rights than women in Islam. Well, the reason lies in the biology of men and women. Men are biologically stronger and they are built to do heavy work, logical thinking and have more problem solving capacity than women. But that does not mean women are subordinate to men. Though men may excel in strength and intelligence and logic, women are better in consultation, and other emotional support. Also, only women can give birth and reproduce offsprings.
Women are not supposed to do what man can do rather they are supposed to do what men cannot do. For example, though men are better than women in intelligence, strength and reasoning, they lack emotional support. They need a woman to comfort their emotions. And, by nature itself women can take care of baby than men. They can reproduce offsprings which no man can do. Without woman, the whole civilization will collapse. They hold a very high position in Islam which people don’t know.
Prophet Muhammad even once said that the paradise lies at the feet of your mother. Also, in Islam, a woman has three times more rights over her child than her husband (father of the child).
The conclusion is that men and women have difference in biology and psychology. Their difference in rights and powers is because of their difference in biology and psychology. In Islam, it is obligatory for a man to bring food and earn for his family. For women there is no such rule. If women want to earn, it is their choice but they have to take permission from their husband. Since men and women have different biology and psychology, giving them the same powers and rights would not make them equal. So to make them equal, they have to be given different rights and powers. According to Islam, men and women are equal in status and different in role. You cannot compare an eye with a nail. Both are equally important but their role and way of caring are different. Such blame on Islam is very old fashioned and illogical. Every sensible mind knows the fact.
Lastly, as the saying goes, ” With power comes responsibility”, men are given more responsibility than women in Islam. So, I think Islam does not prefer anyone of the two rather it makes them equal in the perfect way.
